Statistics on various aspects of the administration of justice in West Germany during 1979 are presented.
Abstract
Tables relate to organization and personnel of the courts; case flow of the various types of civil, criminal, and special courts at all levels; and numbers of suspects apprehended as well as police clearance rates. Also covered are criminal prosecutions and convictions by main offense groups from 1977 to 1979, convictions in 1979 by State and main offense categories, convictions for main offense categories by offender age, penalties, juvenile measures, and convictions for traffic offenses by age. Data tables also show convictions against foreigners, convictions against child molesters, and extradition cases. Tables with corrections statistics indicate general figures on population of corrections institutions, prisoners' characteristics, prisoners' sentences and criminal records, and prisoners' offenses and types of sentence. Probation statistics detail completed probations by sentence and reasons for ending probation and probation chances by sentence and reasons for denial of probation. Reference figures show population by city size and adult population by age groups. A bibliography of data sources is supplied.
