SECURITY PERSONNEL ASSIGNED TO VEHICLE PATROL SHOULD BE TRAINED TO HANDLE A VARIETY OF SITUATIONS AS DESCRIBED IN THIS FILMSTRIP AND AUDIOCASSETTE SEGMENT FROM THE SECURITY OFFICER SERIES.
Abstract
IN ADDITIONAL TO REGULAR SECURITY DUTIES, VEHICLE PATROL OFFICERS WILL HAVE DISTINCT DUTIES WHICH MUST BE PROPERLY PERFORMED AT EACH STOP ALONG A PATROL ROUTE. THESE OFFICERS MAY BE GIVEN POSSESSION OF KEYS TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT BUSINESSES AND FACILITIES, SHOULD INSPECT THEIR VEHICLE AT THE START AND FINISH OF THE PATROL, AND MUST CARRY A NOTEBOOK CONTAINING EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBERS, AND A FUNCTIONING FIRE EXTINGUISHER, WHICH THE OFFICER IS TRAINED TO OPERATE, IN THE PATROL VEHICLE. VEHICLE PATROL DOES NOT ELIMINATE THE NECESSITY FOR PATROLLING ON FOOT. WHENEVER THE OFFICER'S DUTIES REQUIRE LEAVING THE VEHICLE, A REPORT OF THE OFFICER'S LOCATION MUST BE MADE TO THE DISPATCHER. SIGNS OR WARNINGS ON THE PATROL ROUTE SHOULD BE MAINTAINED. VIOLATORS OF SECURITY REGULATIONS SHOULD BE TREATED IN A MANNER DESCRIBED BY THE FACILITY MANAGERS. A POLITE AND COURTEOUS MANNER IS RECOMMENDED FOR GUARDS IN DEALING WITH ALL PEOPLE. IDENTIFICATION OF ALL PERSONNEL ENTERING SECURE AREAS SHOULD BE EXAMINED. OFFICERS SHOULD HAVE SOME DEGREE OF MECHANICAL ABILITY, AND BE TRAINED FOR MAKING EMERGENCY REPAIRS. ADDITIONAL ASSIGNMENTS OF VEHICLE PATROL OFFICERS MAY INCLUDE TRAFFIC DIRECTION AND ESCORTING EMPLOYEES THROUGH PARKING AREAS AT NIGHT. REPORTS OUGHT TO BE MADE IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE DISCOVERY OF ANY HAZARD. (TWK)
