FINAL REPORT ON A PROJECT TO PROVIDE CLINICAL AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICES IN AN EFFORT TO PREVENT DELINQUENCY ON A STATEWIDE BASIS.
Abstract
EVERY ATTEMPT IS MADE TO IDENTIFY THOSE CHILDREN WHO ARE DISPLAYING BEHAVIORAL WARNING SIGNS AT HOME, IN THE SCHOOL, OR IN THE COMMUNITY, AND TO ENGAGE THEM AND THEIR PARENTS IN APPROPRIATE PROGRAMS AIMED AT REDUCING THE FREQUENCY AND SEVERITY OF SUBSEQUENT DELINQUENT ACTS. QUESTIONNAIRES WERE SENT OUT TO PARENTS OF CHILDREN IN THE PROGRAM. RESULTS OF THE RESPONSES (48 PERCENT OF THE QUESTIONNAIRES WERE RETURNED) REVEALED THAT 77 PERCENT OF THE PROBLEMS WHICH HAD ORIGINALLY BROUGHT THE CHILDREN INTO THE PROGRAM HAD SHOWN IMPROVEMENT. THE QUESTIONNAIRE AND OTHER QUESTIONNAIRE RESULTS ARE INCLUDED.
