Future corporate security will require security managers with sophisticated corporate management skills and a knowledge of high-tech security equipment, such as encryption devices, new personnel identification equipment, and surveillance robots.
Abstract
Future security managers will operate at the highest levels of corporate management to mesh security policy with other high-level corporate decisions. As corporations become more security conscious, security managers will be increasingly consulted regarding the impact of various policies on security. Security managers will be responsible for analyzing trends in both security threats and security measures that must be considered in corporate planning. Technical knowledge will increasingly be required of the security manager because of the high-tech security devices being developed to improve security in various areas. Among the equipment being developed are encryption devices to protect the privacy of information transfers, biometric measures for controlling personnel access, and mobile robots to detect intrusions into facilities. Other high-tech developments will include personnel tracking devices, low-power laser intrusion systems, wireless sensors, and high-power computers to control an entire security system.
