REHABILITATION OF RELEASEES FROM WEST GERMAN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS IS INEFFECTIVE BECAUSE NO ONE REALLY KNOWS HOW TO REHABILITATE CRIMINALS.
Abstract
THE SO-CALLED 'SUCCESSFUL' CASES ARE ACTUALLY PERSONS WHO IMPROVED THEIR BEHAVIOR OR REMAINED HEALTHY IN SPITE OF RATHER THAN BECAUSE OF INSTITUTIONALIZATION. DISCUSSED IS THE NEED FOR A NEW RESOCIALIZATION MODEL BASED ON THE REALIZATION OF THREE FACTS: THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF ACHIEVING RESOCIALIZATION UNDER THE EXISTING CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM, THE INADEQUACY OF EXISTING TREATMENT THEORIES, AND THE AMBIVALENCE IN THE ATTITUDE OF THERAPISTS TOWARD OFFENDERS. --IN GERMAN
