A committee formed by the National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders reviewed recent research conducted for an earlier report on the production and presentation of school reports to the juvenile courts in Great Britain.
Abstract
The committee met six times during 1987 and 1988 and held a meeting in June 1988 with representatives from a wide range of organizations and government departments directly involved with education or the juvenile justice system. The analysis concluded that a single court report combining information from all relevant agencies might be desirable, that guidelines should be provided on the content and presentation of these reports, and that teachers should receive training on the purpose and production of school reports. In addition, the student and, if possible, the parents should be consulted during the preparation of the report which should contain only factual material and should note any positive achievements.
