Abstract
Individual papers provide an overview of programs and issues related to school climate and include an annotated bibliography of 28 articles selected from the current literature on school climate. Additional papers describe appropriate instruments for gathering data about school climate, with emphasis on the design of instruments and issues related to their reliability and validity. Other papers examine early efforts to modify school climate, recently developed programs, and guidelines for planning and conducting school climate projects. Information is included on involving educational practitioners in educational research, the use of quality circles, efforts to deal with vandalism as a symptom of more serious problems, and the results of research on effective schools. Tables, figures, chapter reference lists, and appended instruments and related materials.
