This address by the U.S. Attorney General emphasizes the role played by the American Correctional Association in advocating positive correctional change.
Abstract
The challenge for corrections policymakers is that the public demands more arrests and prosecutions but does not argue for increased jail and prison space. The Bush administration's anti-crime legislative proposals are discussed, as well as State prison construction programs, electronic monitoring and home confinement, interventions to reduce drug abuse by young people, and community supervision programs.
