This packet provides many resources, in both English and Spanish that organizations and individuals can use to help keep children safe in their communities.
Abstract
Strengthening families and preventing child abuse require the shared commitment of individuals and organizations in every community. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Children’s Bureau, Office on Child Abuse and Neglect created this resource packet in English and Spanish to support individuals, organizations, and communities in their efforts to promote safe children and healthy families. The packet is divided into five main sections that include: (1) supporting families and preventing child abuse; (2) what organizations can do to promote safe children and healthy families; (3) what individuals can do to promote safe children and healthy families; (4) the issue of child abuse and neglect-the scope of the problem, the long-term consequence, recognizing child abuse and neglect, and reporting child abuse and neglect; and (5) organizations and programs that promote the safety of children and healthy families.
