This CD-ROM from the Rural Law Enforcement Technology Center in Hazard, KY, serves as an introduction to the Center, presenting its mission and organization.
Abstract
The goals and approaches of the Rural Law Enforcement Technology Center (RULETC), a program of the National Institute of Justice, are the focus of this CD-ROM. This CD-ROM presents a series of slides and photographs detailing and illustrating the organization of RULETC and its 10 centers across the United States. Highlighting the testing of the effectiveness of law enforcement equipment, this CD-ROM describes the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center System, arguing that varied, different data are collected by each of the participating centers. A central goal of RULETC is working in partnership with small and rural law enforcement and corrections agencies in order to help them upgrade their current law enforcement technologies. A description of the corporate headquarters of RULETC in Richmond, KY, is presented along with photographs and biographic information on RULETC’s advisory board. A slide presentation of the construction of RULETC’s technology center is followed by a description of RULETC’s outreach and excess and surplus equipment programs. A presentation of RULETC’s Mobile Technology Demonstration System is also presented.
