This report summarizes the crime in Hong Kong and the activities of the Hong Kong police during 1991.
Abstract
Although reported crime increased only by 0.4 percent during the year, several major incidents and the media coverage they generated could lead to the assumption that the local crime situation had deteriorated. Offenders opened fire in 43 crimes, and police seized 124 firearms. Motor vehicle theft for the purpose of smuggling continued to be a problem, although the majority of stolen vehicles were recovered. The Hong Kong police cooperated closely with law enforcement agencies in other countries. They also divided one police region and plan to divide another to improve police service to the public. Descriptions of organization, operations, personnel and training, management, administration, and finance; appended figures and tables; and photographs
