Responding to AIDS: Ten Principles for the Workplace

NCJ Number
127700
Date Published

Length

Annotation
This report highlights 10 workplace principles that can serve as a framework for all employers, unions, and other employee representatives and business organizations that share the responsibility of responding to AIDS. A background paper giving the Commission's rationales for and amplifications of the principles is also included.
Abstract
Each of the 10 principles are discussed in the commentary section and a list of endorsers from business, labor, government, and non-profit organizations are included. The 10 principles are based on the idea that economic imperatives as well as social responsibility make it essential for American business to address AIDS. Education about AIDS is needed to maintain a stable work environment and to give employees information about personal risk education. The 10 principles are also based on the experiences, both negative and positive, of many individuals and corporations and offer a rational, compassionate, and prudent framework for the workplace. Resources for further information and education conclude the report. 38 references
