This directory aids private and public correctional agencies in locating Federal programs that, according to their guidelines, could provide money, goods, or services for preadjudication or postadjudication activities of the adult criminal justice system.
Abstract
Federal program personnel were interviewed to determine which programs would be included in the directory. A total of 228 resource entries were assembled. The entry for each program contains a goals statement, program description, outline of eligibility requirements and types of resource assistance offered, description of application and assistance processes, Office of Management and Budget number, and information contact. Programs are indexed according to the Federal agency that administers or regulates the program, the 17 basic functional categories that identify specific areas of decisionmaking, and potential beneficiaries who are eligible for resource assistance as a result of their minority status. Appendixes present the corrections functional areas, types of assistance provided, a sample interview schedule, suggestions for proposal writing, a glossary, and a list of Federal Information Centers and Regional Councils.
