Abstract
An overview presents the medical facts about AIDS and a discussion of psychological and social concerns. Guidelines on preparation for illness, incapacity, and death focus on the steps and the attorney's role in getting a person's affairs in order; carrying out health, financial, and estate planning; and preparing critical documents, including the nomination of a conservator, power of attorney, living wills, wills, and trusts. Additional sections explain how to obtain public benefits through Federal programs, including Social Security Disability Insurance, Supplemental Security Income, Medicaid, Medicare, food stamps, and veterans' benefits. Further sections focus on State and local programs, including State disability insurance, general assistance and welfare, unemployment benefits, and other benefit programs. Footnotes.
