Abstract
At its Tenth Session, the Committee on Crime Prevention and Control addressed the implementation of the recommendations of the Seventh United Nations (UN) Congress on the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, preparation for the Eighth Congress, and assessment of the results of the review of the crime prevention and criminal justice programs. Specific issues on the agenda included, inter alia, draft standards for the prevention of juvenile delinquency, draft basic principles on the role of lawyers, supervision of foreign offenders who have been conditionally sentenced or conditionally released, draft bilateral model treaty on extradition, progress achieved with respect to the implementation of General Assembly resolution 40/36 on domestic violence, and proposals for concerted international action against forms of crime identified in the Milan Plan of Action.
