Abstract
Tabulations show population and general crime patterns, including composition of population growth in the State from 1958 to 1979 and the regional impact of population growth. Total Index crimes are given for the State, urban areas, cities outside urban areas, and in terms of volume rates. Analyses by crime type include violent crime, murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, property crime, burglary, larceny/theft, and motor vehicle theft. Finally, crime in urban areas is tabulated for five population-dense counties of the State. The appendix contains offense definitions and a list of cities included in sheriffs' reports.
