This fiscal year 1992 annual report of the New Zealand Department of Justice reports on the department's mission, services performed, finances, and management.
Abstract
The first part of the report presents the achievement record in the form of the statement of service performance. The performance is presented under output classes (product or service categories) rather than as production units (divisions or units). Service performance includes policy advice; administrative services to courts, tribunals, and other criminal justice authorities; information services; services to parties who appeared before courts and tribunals; custodial remand services to courts; the administration of court sentences; administration of court sentences in the civil jurisdiction of the courts; registration of statutory information; and the administration of legal aid. The statement of service performance complements the statement of financial performance, which presents to the Government, and through them to the taxpayers, a full account of the services delivered through the use of appropriated public money. Progress has been made in the development of accurate measures of relevant performance and in improving the recording and measurement systems. The second part of the report presents additional statistical and descriptive information on performance by divisions. 12 tables and appended supplementary data
