As part of the Canadian Federal Government's consultation with provincial government officials, representatives of nongovernmental organizations, and private citizens regarding Government-appointed committee reports on sex offenses, this booklet poses questions on various recommendations of the two reports.
Abstract
The reports are on sexual offenses against children and youths (Badgley Committee Report), which was published in August 1984, and on pornography and prostitution (Fraser Committee Report), which was published in April 1985. The reports together present 160 recommendations addressed to all government levels, the private sector, and individual citizens. Questions posed on these recommendations encompass the general topics of dealing with child sexual abuse, pornography, and prostitution. Questions pertaining to child sexual abuse address recommended changes in the criminal code, reception of children's evidence, education programs, health and social welfare programs, and the private sector's role. Questions on pornography focus on changes in Federal legislation and the roles of Provinces, municipalities, and the private sector. Questions on prostitution cover the same topics as those addressed in the questions on pornography. Following each question, related committee recommendations are explained.
