Abstract
During 2001, the United Nations Interregional Crime & Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) worked in close collaboration with the Center for International Crime Prevention (CICP) to develop their respective areas of competence in a series of projects within the three Global Programs - transnational organized crime, trafficking in human beings, and corruption. The main goal of this cooperation is to increase and improve collaboration, reduce overlapping, use human and financial resources to the maximum, and intensify the expertise and specialization of each entity. In addition, UNICRI has been involved in the formulation and implementation of projects in areas ranging from criminal justice and drug control to urban security and crime surveys. In the biennium 2002-2003, UNICRI will continue its activity as research arm of the United Nations Program on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. Among its other responsibilities, UNICRI will analyze and publish data collected during the Fourth International Crime Victim Survey, the First International Survey of Crime Against Businesses, and the First International Violence Against Women Survey.
