This executive summary from the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) provides information to agencies for use in developing a policy to reduce officer injuries.
Abstract
This executive summary of the IACP's final report on preventing officer injuries provides a more in-depth review of the data collected during this study and highlights other findings pertinent to injury trends and officer safety considerations. It is intended to serve as a resource for agencies and encourage them to think more critically about departmental injuries and proactive prevention strategies. This report is the result of a multi-agency study conducted to identify and document the cause and magnitude of officer injuries, develop a set of resources to assist law enforcement agencies in responding to officer injuries, and to disseminate this information to the law enforcement community.
