The International Good Templar Youth Federation has undertaken a worldwide campaign to develop a culture free of any kind of intoxicating substances and to promote the development of drug prevention and social reintegration programs.
Abstract
The federation is a nongovernmental organization with branches and contacts in more than 40 countries and a membership of 200,000 "juniors" (7-15 years old) and older "youth" members. In its efforts to prevent drug and alcohol-related problems, the federation promotes the development of appropriate information, education, and national control policy measures. It also encourages youth to participate in healthy activities as alternatives to drug use. Former addicts help in developing rehabilitation and social reintegration programs for drug addicts and alcoholics. The federation organizations in Europe have recently launched a campaign called European Youth Against Cannabis, which focuses on opposing any attempt to legalize cannabis, providing information to their members on the harmful effects of cannabis abuse, and keeping all activities drug-free.
