This packet provides 16 separate papers on issues related to sex-offender treatment modalities, the effectiveness of treatment programs, and recidivism among sex offenders.
Abstract
One paper discusses state-of-the-art sex offender treatment; the paper includes a discussion of relapse- prevention outcomes. Another paper presents lesson plans for teaching how to develop and administer sex offender programs. The estimated cost savings of sex offender treatment in Vermont in 1987 is also examined in a paper, and a paper addresses the evaluation of treatment outcome for adult perpetrators of child sexual abuse. Papers that discuss specific types of treatment for sex offenders focus on multisystemic treatment, comprehensive cognitive- behavioral treatment, and community treatment programs for released sex offenders. Other papers target types of offenders, namely, adult perpetrators of child sexual abuse, adolescent sex offenders, and children who molest other children. Most of the papers address the effectiveness of various treatment modalities and programs by examining recidivism among those who have been treated.
