Abstract
The readings are grouped into five sections, each with an introduction by the volume editors that places the readings within the context of classical schools of thought. The first section reviews perspectives on rational choice theory, including routine activities, situational crime prevention, and deterrence. The second section focuses on modern biosocial theory and considers criminal anthropology, arousal theory, and the neuropsychology of conduct disorder. The third section addresses advances in sociological criminology, including ecological, strain, anomie, and labeling theories. The fourth section presents essays on integrated theories of crime and criminal behavior. The final section focuses on conflict theory and deals with radical criminology and restorative justice.
