Abstract
Offense data focus on number of victims and offenders per incident, time of rape, day of week and month, time lapse of reporting, use of weapon, place of initial contact, place of actual rape, geographic location, and place of rape by other charges. Data on victim characteristics address the victim's age, race, and residency; whether victims were visitors to Honolulu; relationship of offender to victim; relationship by arrest; and relationships by victim age and other crimes. Offender data cover race and age, while disposition data deals with arrests, arrest of rapists for other crimes, releases, indictments, guilty by plea or verdict, Nolle Pros, case stricken, pending cases, type of defense attorney used, and sentencing. A narrative of the findings is provided, and 14 notes are included.
