THE AUTHOR USES SEVERAL CASE HISTORIES TO ILLUSTRATE THE ERRORS OF THE MYTHS ABOUT WHY MEN RAPE AND WHY WOMEN ARE VULNERABLE TO IT
Abstract
INDIVIDUAL CHAPTERS COMPARES MYTH AND FACT ABOUT HOW RAPES OCCUR, EXPLORES THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE RAPE VICTIM, THE OFFENDER, AND LAWS DEALING WITH RAPE, ANALYZES THE PSYCHOLOGY AND SOCIOLOGY OF GROUP RAPE, AND PRESENTS PERSPECTIVES ON WHY MEN RAPE AND WHAT WOMEN CAN DO TO PROTECT THEMSELVES. WORKING FROM THE RESEARCH OF CRIMINOLOGIST DOCTOR MENACHEM AMIR, THE AUTHOR FINDS THAT HISTORICALLY TWO EQUALLY IMPORTANT ELEMENTS WERE INVOLVED IN THE TRAUMA OF RAPE - THE PASSIVITY OF THE FEMALE AND THE AGGRESSIVENESS OF THE MALE. THE OUTCOMES OF EACH OF THE CASE HISTORIES CITED IS RESOLVED IN THE EPILOGUE, WITH INFORMATION ABOUT ITS LEGAL DISPOSITION AND OTHER FACTS OF INTEREST.
