RESULTS OF A SURVEY CONDUCTED IN DENVER (CO) TO DETERMINE PUBLIC OPINIONS ON THE EFFECTIVENESS AND PROPRIETY OF THE PENAL SANCTIONS CURRENTLY IN USE AGAINST TEN CRIMES (AGAINST PERSONS AND PROPERTY, AND VICTIMLESS).
Abstract
THE CRIMES WERE MURDER, FORCIBLE RAPE, ARMED ROBBERY, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, BURGLARY, AUTO THEFT, USING MARIJUANA, HOMOSEXUALITY, PROSTITUTION, AND GAMBLING. THE SURVEY ALSO ATTEMPTED TO DISCOVER THE PENAL SANCTIONS THAT WERE DESIRED BY THE PUBLIC. BIVARIATE RELATIONSHIPS WERE CALCULATED FOR RESPONDENTS' AGE, SEX, ETHNICITY, RELIGION, EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT, AND INCOME. THE SURVEY QUESTIONNAIRE IS INCLUDED.
