Abstract
The first part of the book, "Public Policy and Crime," consists of seven articles that lay the foundation on which the anthology is built. Beginning with the public policy process and covering such topics as family, drugs, race, and science, this part is essential to understanding historical and political realities as they shape and often determine policy regarding crime. The second part of the book, "Public Policy and Criminal Justice," consists of 17 readings in the categories of law enforcement, courts, corrections, and juvenile justice. The third part of the book, "Trends in Public Policy, Crime, and Criminal Justice," discusses the relevance of public policy in the future of the criminal justice system, crime control as human rights enforcement, feminist views on criminal justice, and reconciliation as the basis for criminal justice policy.
