These appendixes to a national study of prosecution management information systems (MIS) contain literature search information, a mail survey questionnaire, and site visit reports.
Abstract
The national study utilized a mail survey of 594 prosecutorial agencies, site visits to 17 locations, telephone contacts, and a literature survey to identify and describe the nature and extent of prosecution MIS usage and the problems, costs, and benefits of such usage. In addition, the evaluability of these systems was investigated to determine the extent to which they could be evaluated objectively in a later indepth study. The literature search information cosists of a 119-item bibliography containing government publications, research reports, MIS manuals, briefing papers, and journal articles arranged in alphabetical order. For the site visit reports, the same format is used in each case so that data may be easily compared. Sections focus on background information; organization descriptions; descriptions of the information systems; the judicial process; and findings, observations, and judgmental assessments. Flow charts and reference lists are also provided. (See related documents 74466 and 74468.)
