This study examined information that can better allocate existing resources and develop new tools for promoting mental health in schools.
Abstract
Research has clearly identified the negative impact that untreated mental health problems can have on students' school success. However, there is little research about specific resource needs from the perspective of the school practitioners who are working daily with these vulnerable youth. This small, qualitative study explored important resources needed for promoting mental health from the perspective of multidisciplinary school practitioners. Results provide valuable insight about critical school needs and existing resources that can guide the re-allocation of available assets and the development of new mental health interventions for schools. Implications for future practice, research, and policy are also discussed. (Published Abstract)
