Prepared as part of Ohio's Project MAPS (designed to provide statewide master plans for constructing and expanding juvenile detention and rehabilitation facilities), this volume profiles Ohio's northeast counties. Items include location, demographics, juvenile court caseload, detention and confinement statistics, county financial conditions, and intentions regarding the construction of juvenile detention homes and rehabilitation facilities.
Abstract
Demographic data for each of Ohio's northeast counties cover juvenile population characteristics (race and age) for 1970, 1980, and projected for 1990 and 2000. Juvenile court statistics encompass the number of juvenile court complaints and adjudications by age, sex, and race for 1983. Data on juvenile dispositions address the number of residential facilities used for postdispositional confinement in 1983. Other data project the demand for juvenile detention/rehabilitation beds by 1990, indicate the financial condition of the county, and consider the likelihood that the county will construct new juvenile correctional facilities. Also included are brief descriptions of the multicounty juvenile attention system, the Portage-Geauga Rehabilitation Center, and the Sargus Juvenile Center. Tabular and graphic data.
