REVIEW OF THE BASIC PROBLEMS IN WEST GERMANY'S JUVENILE CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS, INCLUDING NEGATIVE PUBLIC ATTITUDES, OUTDATED FACILITIES, RIGID INSTITUTIONAL STRUCTURE, AND INEFFECTIVE TRAINING AND RESOCIALIZATION.
Abstract
THE ARTICLE RECOMMENDS PRIORITY FOR SCHOOL AND JOB TRAINING PROGRAMS, USE OF GROUP AND OTHER THERAPY PROGRAMS, AND INCREASED CONTACTS WITH THE OUTSIDE WORLD. AS OF 1975 THERE WERE ABOUT 5000 YOUNG MEN IN WEST GERMAN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS, WHICH REPRESENTED LESS THAN ONE PERCENT OF ALL YOUNG MEN WHO RECEIVE CRIMINAL SANCTIONS IN THEIR LIVES. --IN GERMAN
