REALIZING THAT PROBATION OFFICERS CANNOT EFFECTIVELY PROVIDE SERVICES IN ALL AREAS FOR THEIR CLIENTS, THE AUTHOR ADVOCATES A REFERRAL SYSTEM, CALLED THE BROKERAGE CONCEPT, THAT UTILIZES COMMUNITY TREATMENT RESOURCES.
Abstract
BECAUSE PROBATION OFFICERS WOULD BE REFERRING THEIR CLIENTS TO APPROPRIATE EXISTING TREATMENT AGENCIES, THEY WOULD CONSERVE THEIR OWN STAFF RESOURCES AND, CONSEQUENTLY, WOULD AFFORD THEIR AGENCIES ECONOMIC SAVINGS. WITH PROBATION OFFICERS ACTING AS BROKERS, NOT ONLY WOULD THE NUMBER OF AVAILABLE SERVICES BE EXPANDED, BUT THE QUALITY OF SERVICE, INCLUDING IN-HOUSE, WOULD ALSO BE IMPROVED....KAP
