The national organizations are grouped by the type of assistance provided -- legal, medical, and health -- and by special inmate populations served -women, juveniles, veterans. International organizations are listed by agency title. The directory to State and local organizations is arranged alphabetically by organization name and by State. Miscellaneous sources of assistance include citations to legal materials bibliographies, educational programs, and more. Each entry contains a contact person, address, phone number, and description of services. No index to the over 200 entries is provided.
