NEW ITALIAN REGULATIONS ENVISAGE THE PRISON AS A COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE WITHOUT HIERARCHY AND AUTHORITIES, AIMING AT RESOCIALIZATION. IN ORDER TO REALIZE THIS, SUPERVISORS WILL BE APPOINTED.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES WHAT THIS COMMUNITY WILL LOOK LIKE AND HOW IT WILL FUNCTION. THERE WILL BE SMALL GROUPS ENHANCING THE POSSIBILITY OF PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT AND CREATIVITY. A LEADER WILL BE APPOINTED IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUBGROUPS AND SUBCULTURES. THIS LEADER WILL BE SPECIALLY TRAINED TO HANDLE SUCH A TASK. THE AUTHOR WARNS THAT MANY PRISONERS WILL NOT BE REACHED BY THIS SYSTEM AND THAT PUNISHMENT AND REHABILITATION CANNOT BE COMBINED, SINCE AUTHORITY IS ALWAYS NECESSARY. --IN ITALIAN...MSP
