Abstract
A BRIEF HISTORY OF CRIME PREVENTION AS A CONCEPT IS TRACED FROM BRITAIN TO THE UNITED STATES, AND GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF CRIME PREVENTION ARE DISCUSSED. SPECIFIC TOPICS AND PHYSICAL DEVICES RELATING TO PREVENTION ARE DEALT WITH IN TABULATED SECTIONS. THE CONCLUDING CHAPTERS OUTLINE CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAM GUIDELINES AND EVALUATION METHODS. THE SECTIONS ARE NOT UNIFORM IN FORMAT; HOWEVER, RELATED REFERENCE AND BIBLIOGRAPHICAL MATERIAL, CHECKLISTS, APPENDIXES, AND SAMPLE FORMS ARE PROVIDED AT THE ENDS OF SECTIONS.
