This log-linear analysis of the processing of 9,223 delinquency cases provides an example of recent changes in justice research.

Abstract

By focusing on several stages within the decision-making process (detention, screening, and final disposition), it examines the impact early decisions have on subsequent decisions, and illustrates the interdependence of legal variables (offense type, prior record), social variables (race, gender), and process variables (detention decision, screening decision).
