DATA EVALUATING FIVE PRE-RELEASE COURSES INVOLVING 100 INMATES ARE ANALYZED.
Abstract
THE PANEL DESIGN TESTED INMATES BEFORE AND AFTER THE COURSES. LITTLE LEARNING APPEARED TO TAKE PLACE IN THE PROGRAM, BUT THE COURSE RELATING TO PAROLE WAS AN EXCEPTION. THE RESULT OF A SURVEY QUESTIONNAIRE OF INMATES SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE AND THEREFORE ELIGIBLE FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE PRE-RELEASE PROGRAM INDICATED THAT ABOUT HALF WERE NOT INTERESTED IN ANY PROGRAM BUT THOSE WHO WERE WANTED MORE INFORMATION ABOUT PAROLE. EACH OTHER SUBJECT ATTRACTED ABOUT ONE-THIRD OF THE ELIGIBLES. SOME REASONS FOR THE LACK OF EFFECT ARE DISCUSSED. AUTHOR ABSTRACT.
