Knowledge of the degree to which members of the public are satisfied with the police service is important to police planners if they are concerned with improving public perception of the service.
Abstract
This survey probe examines whether information will be available from a postal survey to determine the degree to which members of the public are satisfied with the police when they telephone to request service, and a unit is dispatched to attend. Three areas in which the public may evaluate the police service are considered: the way the telephone call was received, the punctuality with which the police attended, and the manner in which the problem was dealt with at the scene. The result indicates that a good response producing information to enable areas of concern to be identified can be obtained. (Publisher abstract)
