THE MANNER IN WHICH THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM IS SUBJECT TO MANIPULATION BY THE POLITICAL PROCESS IS EXAMINED WITH RESPECT TO TREATMENT PROGRAMS, AGENCY INTERFACE, ADMINISTRATION, AND JUVENILE JUDGE SELECTION.
Abstract
THE FOUR FACTORS IN THIS STUDY WERE SELECTED BECAUSE OF THE INHERENT POLITICAL MANIPULABILITY WITHIN EACH AREA, BECAUSE OF THEIR ABILITY TO INFLUENCE THE PERSONNEL AND COMPONENTS OF THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM IN A NEGATIVE FASHION. FOR EACH OF THESE FACTORS, THE AUTHOR EXAMINES HOW THEIR DISFUNCTIONAL CONSEQUENCES ARE MANIFESTED AND HOW THEY LATENTLY OR OVERTLY CONTRIBUTE TO THE POLITICIZATION OF THE JUVENILE COURT AND ITS PERSONNEL.
