THIS MANUAL FOR POLICE DESCRIBES HOW TO USE THE PATROL/PLAN COMPONENT OF THE POLICE/PLAN RESOURCE ALLOCATION SYSTEM ON THE TRS-80 MICROCOMPUTER; TRS-80 USER'S MANUAL AND TRAINING MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED.
Abstract
POLICE/PLAN WAS DESIGNED TO BE USED WITH LOW-COST MICROCOMPUTERS AND PROGRAMMABLE CALCULATORS. PATROL/PLAN, USED TO EVALUATE AND IMPROVE THE DEPLOYMENT OF POLICE FIELD RESOURCES OVER TIME AND GEOGRAPHICAL AREA, USES THE TRS-80, 16 K RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY, A VIDEO MONITOR, AND CASSETTE RECORDER (A PRINTER IS OPTIONAL). DISCUSSION OF PATROL/PLAN PROCEDURES COVERS TERMINOLOGY, DESCRIPTIVE AND PRESCRIPTIVE PROGRAM FEATURES, APPROPRIATE AND INAPPROPRIATE USES, PATROL/PLAN LIMITATIONS, AND THE PROGRAM ITSELF. DISCUSSION OF THE PATROL/PLAN MODEL COVERS APPLICATION OF QUEUING THEORY TO PATROL FUNCTIONS, PLANNING, AND PROBLEMS AND INCLUDES INPUT DATA REQUIREMENTS AND DEFINITIONS, DESCRIPTIVE PATROL PERFORMANCE MEASURES, AND PRESCRIPTIVE CAPACITIES SUCH AS ALLOCATING UNITS OVER SEVERAL BLOCKS. DISCUSSION ALSO COVERS PATROL/PLAN STRUCTURE, DATA BLOCKS, TERMINATING THE PROGRAM, RECOVERING FROM AN ACCIDENTAL PROGRAM, AND OTHER TOPICS.
