Objectives of the Police Service Administration Act of 1990 are to provide for the operation of the Queensland Police Service in Australia.
Abstract
Part I of the Act provides introductory information, while Part II covers the Queensland Police Service in terms of service, community responsibility, and staff appointment and administration. Part III examines police officers' powers and duties related to those of constable and focuses on the execution of duty and the termination of power. Part IV deals with functions of the Queensland Police Commissioner, specifically conditions and term of appointment, removal and suspension, and communications. Remaining parts of the Act consider personnel appointments, standing down and suspension, internal command and discipline, resignation and retirement, change in status, review of decision, and police force transition and repeal. Miscellaneous provisions of the Act concern such areas as improper disclosure of information, protection from liability, legal representation, compensation for injury or death, bribery and corruption, offenses, apprehension, and representation of police officers in court.
