THE STUDY REPORTED LOOKED AT ALL THE CASES OF POLICE OFFICER DYING DURING THE EXERCISE OF THEIR DUTY IN THE CITY OF MONTREAL BETWEEN 1945 AND 1969.
Abstract
THE FINDINGS REVEALED THAT THE CAUSE OF DEATH IN THESE CASES WAS TYPICALLY THE SAME AS WHAT COULD BE EXPECTED FOR THE AVERAGE CIVILIAN CANADIAN. OF THE POLICE DEATHS OCCURING DURING THIS 25-YEAR PERIOD, THREE-FOURTHS WERE FROM NATURAL CAUSES AND 94 PERCENT WERE NO-JOB RELATED. THE THREE MOST PREVALENT CAUSES OF DEATH WERE IN ORDER CARDIO-VASCULAR CONDITIONS, CANCER, AND OFF-DUTY ACCIDENTS. --IN FRENCH. SUMMARY IN ENGLISH...ELW
