The organization, community services, and investigative duties of the Japanese police are described, as are the accomplishments made in combatting specific crimes during 1980.
Abstract
Of particular concern were juvenile crimes and crime prevention measures along with terrorist incidents and their prevention. Police activities in handling drug and racketeering crimes are discussed as are the activities of the patrol, traffic, and security police. Data on police strength, salaries, education and training, recruitment, communications network, budget and equipment, and research are provided. Charts, graphs, statistical tables, an organizational chart, and a few maps are supplied.
