Abstract
The first chapter traces the history of the Luxembourg police from its origins in 1732 to the present. Chapter 2 focuses on its various missions: administrative tasks, crime-related tasks, military-related functions, the maintenance the country's internal security, and special missions such as weapon searches and investigations of gambling activities. The chapter on police organization describes the police hierarchy from the five management units (personnel, training, security, operations, and logistics) to the 12 regional brigades. It also includes technical services and special units such as mobile units, canine units, explosive experts, and emergency intervention teams. The last chapter explains personnel requirements, educational prerequisites, and professional training for the Luxembourg police from the highest ranking officers to lower-ranking personnel, engineers, technicians, and maintenance employees. The chapter on equipment owned by the Luxembourg police lists weapons, single-engine airplanes, motorboats, and a network of radio equipment.
