Crisis intervention and conflict management (CICM) training has become a widely accepted form of psychological skill training for police officers. This study attempts to examine the effects of a mandatory CICM training program in a midsized police department.
Abstract
An experimental and control group were tested for possible changes in attitude, content knowledge, and field performance as a result of training. Findings were generally indeterminate regarding the effects of training, but both groups did demonstrate a generally positive shift over time. Possible organizational explanations for these findings and considerations for future research are proposed. (Author abstract)
