CONSIDERATION OF BOTH LOGISTIC AND PREVENTIVE MEASURES POLICE MUST TAKE TO DEAL WITH URBAN STRIFE.
Abstract
A PRE-PLANNED SYSTEM OF LOGISTICS IS ESSENTIAL TO SUSTAIN FIELD OPERATIONS DURING A DISTURBANCE. THE AUTHOR SUGGESTS THAT PREVENTION IS REALLY THE KEY TO DEALING EFFECTIVELY WITH COMMUNITY TENSIONS. THE POLICE CHIEF MUST BE WILLING TO STEP OUTSIDE HIS TRADITIONAL ROLE TO WORK FOR THE COMMUNITY GOOD. HE MUST WORK TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS OF HOUSING, POVERTY AND OTHER ISSUES WHICH CREATE OR PERPETUATE COMMUNITY UNREST.
