The security of a computer center depends not only upon the security protection of the building from both outside and inside, but also upon the protection afforded against the risks of all types of physical damage to the structure, its contents, and its occupants.
Abstract
The paper examines the need for an assessment of risks to a computer center. It reports on the way in which a risk manager's studies should be incorporated in the building design, whether the computer center is to be in a new building or within an existing structure. It discusses the design of security and safety systems together with the regulations which have to be considered. Means of removing or minimizing the risks in numerous vulnerable areas are detailed.
