Abstract
The manual is intended for use by security managers, physical security inspection team leaders, team members, and others responsible for physical security. It provides guidelines for planning, determining priorities, and developing a security program for a facility and presents a model inspection procedure that can be specifically tailored to meet any company's reasonable minimum standards. The text discusses how to develop site-specific inspection criteria and checklists, how to implement the security survey, and how to determine recommendations to address specific security deficiencies. Individual sections focus on protective barriers; protective lighting and utility services; types of security areas; construction standards and requirements; locks, doors, and windows; and facility access control. Other sections discuss security containers and storage areas, intrusion detection systems, closed-circuit television, the security of automated information systems, and security guards. Tables, figures, checklists, index, appended security inspection and automated information systems security checklists, and 29 references
