This manual provides guidance for all people in the U.S. Army who are responsible for physical security, and is the basic reference for training security personnel.
Abstract
The manual also covers requests for additional equipment and personnel. The manual's two main concerns are prevention and protection of people, equipment, and property. The manual emphasizes that physical security is only part of the overall defense of an installation. Individual sections focus on the systems approach; planning, programming, and budgeting; education; the control of personnel movement; protective barriers; protective lighting; intrusion detection systems; lock and key systems; and security forces. Additional chapters discuss port and harbor terminal security, computer security, transportation security, hospital security, personal security of designated individuals, security of nuclear reactors and military and civil works projects, and security analysis and evaluation. Appended guidelines, checklists, glossary, index, and lists of related publications and references
