Abstract
The handbook includes a description of services provided by crime laboratories; general guidelines for the collection, preservation, and packaging of physical evidence; procedures for submitting physical evidence; procedures for handling different types of evidence; and standards and control requirements. The specific types of physical evidence covered here include biological fluids and stains, sexual assault evidence, DNA samples, controlled substances, forensic documents, trace evidence (hair, glass, cloth and fibers, and paint and other protective coatings), firearms, toolmarks, gunshot residue, and arson. 3 appendixes
